Julian Clark, President of AAoA National Board, CEO of Lancemore Group

Julian is CEO of The Lancemore Group, a family owned and managed business and one of the largest boutique hotel operators in Australia. Julian has extensive experience in the accommodation industry and in his current role manages several iconic properties across Australia that regularly feature in Gold List’s and Good Food Guides.  Julian is also a board member for the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) and a past board member of Victorian Tourism Industry Council (VTIC). 

 

 

Adrian Williams, Vice President Operations VIC/TAS/SA for Accor Hotels

Adrian Williams is Vice President Operations for Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania for the global hotel group AccorHotels. AccorHotels operates 52 hotels across these sates and have more than 3000 employees.


With over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Adrian has held various roles in hotels in multiple cities and states across Australia and Canada. He has been a passionate advocate for the industry with involvement in regional tourism and industry associations across all states of Australia. He is currently a board member of the Melbourne Convention Bureau and a member of the VTIC Accommodation Policy Committee.  Adrian holds a Bachelor of Business (CHM) from VU and Masters of Marketing.
 

Catherine Mapperson, Franchisee, Quest on Dorcas and Quest South Melbourne

Catherine Mapperson has been with Quest Apartment Hotels for over 20 years, purchasing her first franchise in 2000 and a second franchise in 2004. She has spent over five years on the Quest Franchise Advisory Council (FAC), which acts as a conduit between the franchisee network and the franchisor, providing support and promoting best practice. Catherine has trained and mentored people to become Quest franchisees, both within her businesses and also as part of the Quest Apartment Hotels formalised approach. Participating in two owners corporation committees for over 17 years, Catherine understands building management, contract negotiation and dispute resolution.  Prior to a career with Quest, Catherine completed a Bachelor of Arts with Honours, specialising in Politics and Criminology, plus experience in the retail industry in London.

Carol Douglas, Director of Brand Standards and Quality, TFE Hotels

Carol has over 20 years experience in the accommodation industry, and is currently the Director of Brand Standards and Quality for TFE Hotels, aligning Brand guidelines for the current and future expansion of the group. This role is based in Melbourne and has included providing regional operational support and leadership. Prior to this, Carol was the Director of Operations, based in Sydney, overseeing a large portfolio of hotels across Europe & Australia with accountability across all commercial aspects of the business.  
 

Iain Gunn, Owner, Comfort Inn Capital Horsham

Iain Gunn is an experienced Senior Manager and Company Director of national and multi-national companies in the tourism and Hospitality industries. He is currently a director of Gunn & Parkinson Pty Ltd, CBL Hotel Management Pty Ltd, Horsham Capital Pty Ltd, Yarrowee Creek Pastoral Co Pty Ltd, Aria Hotel Group and Lifestyle Grand Pty Ltd.  Iain has previously served as Director of Franchise Services for Choice Hotels Australasia, and as Regional Manager for the formerly ASX listed Sundowner Motor Inns Ltd.


 

 

 

Doug Flavell, Regional General Manager VIC/TAS, Mantra Hotels

Doug Flavell has been the Regional General Manager of Mantra Hotels (Victoria & Tasmania) since January 2011.

Based in Melbourne, Doug is responsible for 28 hotels under the Peppers, Mantra, Breakfree and Arts Series brands. Properties range from luxury retreats and coastal resorts to serviced apartments and boutique 5 star hotels.

A passionate hotelier, he joined Mantra Hotels after relocating from New Zealand. In previous roles, Doug held senior positions with Millennium and Copthorne Hotels, Kingsgate Hotels, Quality Hotels and Hyatt International.

 

Kate Costello, Area General Manager for Wyndham Hotel Group

Kate Costello is Area General Manager for Wyndham Hotel Group, the world’s largest and most diverse hotel business, encompassing more than 8,400 hotels and 728,200 rooms in over 80 countries.

Kate is based at Wyndham Hotel Melbourne, and draws experience from an impressive career in hospitality spanning almost two decades in a variety of roles with five international hotel brands, both in Australia and abroad.

 

Brett Salter, National Accommodation Manager, ALH Group

Brett is the National Accommodation Manager for ALH Group; Australia’s largest owner operator of hotels/pubs (95 accommodation hotels, 335 hotels/pubs, 2000+ rooms). Brett joined the ALH Group in 2014 to create and implement a new strategic vision for ALH accommodation which included a new dedicated accommodation team, who have developed internal standards which will lead to the launch of an exciting new hotel brand in 2018 with the vision of having 100 branded hotels nationally within 4 years.   

Prior to ALH, Brett was formerly Senior Development Manager for Choice Hotels Australasia where he was personally responsible for more than 100 new franchisees joining the network and in the later years successfully led the Development team driving franchise recruitment and contract renewals through-out Australia and New Zealand.
 

Anthony LoGiusto, Independent Hotel Consultant

An accountant by trade, Anthony has a diverse hospitality background with senior roles in Finance, Revenue Management and Operations. Working in head office, multi property and property based roles for Accor, Rydges and Mantra Group, he has most recently worked directly for owners to manage their hotel investments.

Blair Roxborough, Area General Manager VIC/SA/TAS/QLD , IHG

Based in Melbourne from 2012, Blair is Area General Manager for IHG for Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania. Across this region, IHG has operating brand representation under InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels with Indigo and Voco to enter the market growing the foot print to over 20 hotels.

He has been in the hotel industry for over 25 years in numerous roles and countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia. During his tenure as Area General Manager for New Zealand, he was present during the 2011 earthquakes in Christchurch leading the IHG recovery efforts for the three hotels in that city assisting owners, colleagues and guests.

Having held industry advocacy roles in other destinations, he is deeply passionate about the industry, its reputation and growing great talent for its future. Blair is CPA qualified holding a Bachelor of Business. 

Michelle King, National Membership Manager, AAoA

Michelle has enjoyed a successful career in the hotel industry having previously held the positions of Director of Sales and Marketing – Royce Hotel, National Sales Manager – Sundowner Motor Inns and Southern Region Sales Manager for both the Constellation Hotels and Choice Hotels Australasia groups. She also worked in the UK for Hertz UK as a National Account Manager, and as a vocational trainer in the business and tourism faculty.  More recently Michelle work within Tourism Accommodation Australia (Victoria) as the Executive Officer. 

Her current role at Accommodation Association of Australia as the National Membership Manager is responsible for growing membership, sourcing sponsorship opportunities and servicing the needs of the accommodation members across Australia.
