The 2011 Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award went to Guy Bentley, CEO of Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School.
 
Guy Bentley is the CEO of the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, the Australian International Hotel School and e-Hotelier, which are part of the Laureate International University Network.
 
Prior to his current appointment Guy was the College Director of Western Sydney Institute of TAFE NSW between 2001-2004. Guy has extensive experience as a Director of Business in the general education, workplace training, outdoor recreation and tourism sectors. In the 1990’s Guy held several senior tourism and hospitality head teacher roles in TAFE colleges.
 
Guy is an elected board member of the Tourism Hospitality Education International Centre of Excellence and an invited member of the National Committee of the Colleges of Private Higher Education (COPHE), the International Association of Hotel Schools (EUHOFA) and a member and past Chair of the Australian Association of Hotel Schools (AAHS).
 
Guy is a published academic having co-authored ‘Crisis planning perceptions, attitudes and behaviour of Australian Hotel Managers’ with Dr Brent Ritchie from the University of Queensland.
 
He is highly recognised for his outstanding contributions to the tourism training industry in Australia and has received the National Training Legend Award in 2006 and the National Tourism Platinum Award in 2004 and 2009. Additionally, the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School was the winner of the Qantas 2009 Australian Tourism Award for National Tourism Education and Training, the NSW 2009 Tourism Gold Award and the 2010 Regional Tourism Award for Education and Training.
