The Hospitality Training Association (HTA) takes its social and community obligations and commitments seriously.  Throughout the year HTA supports a number of charities and events to assist and help those less fortunate or in need.


June 1st marks the official beginning of winter and as the mercury drops and temperatures plummet our thoughts and concerns should turn to the many homeless people around the nation who, through no fault of their own in many cases, due to financial, family or social issues find themselves homeless and living on the streets.

Minimum Wage Increase a Double Blow for Accommodation Industry

The association representing the Australian accommodation industry,  HMAA, sees the minimum wage increase at $26 as yet another blow to an industry that has suffered a decline in international visitation since 2000 and an increase in Australians travelling overseas. Couple this with the changes stemming from the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010 (HIA) which are due to take effect on 1st July this year and any glimmer of recovery subsequent to the stimulus packages may start to fade.

The NSW Government said the first of a series of workshops to be held across NSW was held today in an effort to reduce alcohol-related violence and anti-social behaviour. Gaming and Racing Minister Kevin Greene said the ‘Liquor Accords - Making a Difference’ workshops will help more than 130 liquor accords across the State develop
